Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).

  3. In another bowl, cream the butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Mix in molasses and egg until combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture until just combined.
  6. Chill the dough for at least 1 hour in plastic wrap.
  7. Roll out the chilled dough to about ¼ inch thick and cut into festive shapes.
  8. Place on parchment-lined baking sheets and bake for 8-10 minutes or until edges are golden.
  9. Allow cookies to cool before decorating with icing.
